Career highlights

Advising the Lead Manager in connection with the Tajeer Sukuk, the first Saudi Riyal denominated sukuk issue by a private company in the Saudi market;

Advising an international investment bank in respect of a US$5 billion sukuk programme;

Advising the Lead Manager in connection with a sukuk for SABIC, the first ever sukuk approved by the Capital Market Authority in Saudi Arabia for an aggregate issue amount of SR3 billion (US$800 million);

Advising the sponsors of the Al-Waha Polypropylene Project in connection with a Shari’ah compliant project financing of US$939.2 million in Saudi Arabia;

Advising ECAs, Islamic and conventional financiers of the Yansab Petrochemical Project in connection with Islamic and conventional financing of a US$4.65 billion refinery and petrochemical project at Yanbu, Saudi Arabia;

Advising the offtaker, Water and Electricity Company, and its shareholders Saline Water Conversion Corporation and Saudi Electricity Company in relation to the Shuqaiq IWPP;

Advising the Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity in connection with the privatisation of a basic public utility in Saudi Arabia; and

Advising lenders in connection with a $6 billion grassroots export refinery at Jubail 2 industrial city, Saudi Arabia.

Mustafa is an associate in Hogan Lovells. He has practiced in the Middle East for four years, including 2 years in Saudi Arabia. He has worked with clients on a wide range of matters including Islamic finance, capital markets, project finance, banking and finance and corporate. Before joining Hogan Lovells, Mustafa worked with international law firms in Saudi Arabia and in the United States. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. He is a qualified as an attorney-at-law in Maryland, USA.
